Gyros & Riot Gear

After sleeping for a few hours, we went out in search of food. For some reason, there is a heavy police presence in the area around the hostel. Police officers (some in riot gear) are at every corner and have barricaded several streets to traffic and pedestrians. The hostel attendant doesn't know what is going on. I pretended to take photos of Matt to get some shots of the officers. I can hear the cheering of World Cup fans in the distance. I wonder if it has something to do with that.

Directing traffic away from the area...

All dressed-up for?

Detour. This street looks like it goes on forever.

Candy shop called "Sugar."

Chiilin' Greek style.

 A store called "GoaHome."

Not police, but some sort of uniform.

Lunch: Gyro & Coke. It has beef, cabbage, tomatoes and some sort of white sauce or dressing. Yum!

My Coke says Hi!

Seating area for cafe.

 Turkish cafe-good gyros!

More police vehicles...

We still have about four hours to kill before we head to the train station.  We are hanging out in the living room at the hostel. It's quite hot outside (and inside) so walking around is pretty miserable. Hopefully the Internet will be as good in Romania.

  3. I'm betting the police presence has to do with the World Cup stuff. They get so into it in some countries.
