Tuesday Evening Walk

We went for a little walk after dinner. I haven't seen a lot of the town beyond the lab and the more "downtown" area, so it was nice.

Mural in the arch...

Many of the buildings here in Odorheiu are dilapidated. You can find a half crumbling building next to a perfectly restored building. A lot of the buildings and houses are painted bright colors.

The bakery where we go for wifi and yummy baked goods.

Church across from the bakery.

The street signs are on the side of the buildings.

Some places are open 24 hours, but they call them non-stop. This is the sign for a little store that is something like a convenience store.

Outside the store, we met a group of students from England who are working with kids at a local boarding school for a few weeks. Seeing them on the street made us realize how much we probably stand out as "non-locals" ourselves. No wonder people stare at us.

More buildings...

Dumpy dump truck...

The front porch of our hostel where absolutely no wine or beer drinking has ever occurred.

Italian food is popular here. There are several pizza places and lots of gelato,

Towards dark, there are less people on the streets shopping, eating at restaurants and walking around. That is when I start to notice the children who walk the streets and beg for money. We have to tell them no and it breaks my heart.  Other than the people who hold signs by the freeway or an occasional homeless person downtown, it is something I am not used to seeing, particularly since it is children.  It's sad.
